Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the goal of the expo?
A. The goal of Electronics For You Expo (EFY expo) is to accelerate the growth of electronics industry in India.

Q. How do we plan to achieve that goal?
A. Unlike other expositions, which focus only on 'components' and 'manufacturing equipment', EFY Expo will try to focus on the complete eco-system. We believe that there are at-least 4 key stages in the entire eco-system, which include: (1) Innovation (new technology), (2) Product Design, (3) Manufacturing and (4) Product sales, and we will be focusing all these 4 aspects.

Q. Who is the target audience i.e. visitors being targeted for this show?
A. Based on the 4 stages of eco-system, which we have identified, our target audience is going to be:
     1) Innovators: Involved in innovation/R&D of new technologies and products
     2) Engineers: Involved in 'Design' or 'Implementation' of electronics products
     3) Manufacturers: Involved in manufacturing of electronics products
     4) B2B buyers: Involved in trade or purchase of electronics components, products or machinery

Q. The last segment of 'B2B Buyers' seems to be very large. Can you share some more light on it?
A. Yes, this is one of the largest segment of visitors. It contains the following sub-segments:
    (i) Institutional buyers representing large corporate, PSUs and government agencies. They are there to identify new vendors for their purchase and reconnect with existing and old vendors.
(ii) Trade channel partners comprising distributors, dealers and resellers. They visit the show to identify new business opportunities, and seek representative of international and Indian brands for their respective geographic territories.
(iii) The academia. Both faculty and management representatives of leading tech institutions visit the show to (a) uncover latest tech and industry trends and (b) to connect with tech solutions providers, who have specialised solutions for academia.

Q. Will there be international exhibitors at EFY Expo 2012?
A. EFY Expo 2011 laid the foundation by providing a platform to international exhibitors from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, US, UK and Sweden. For EFY Expo 2012, we have tied up with major international trade bodies, and are expecting a much larger number of exhibitors at EFY Expo 2012.

Q. What are these different zones mentioned in the EFY Expo Ad?
A. We have divided the expo floor into multiple zones, keeping our target audience in mind. These include:
     1. Innovation Zone (exhibitors wanting to connect with 'innovators' will exhibit here)
     2. Engineers' Zone (exhibitors wanting to connect with 'engineers' will exhibit here)
     3. Manufacturing Zone (exhibitors wanting to connect with 'electronics manufacturers' will exhibit here)
     4. B2B Buyers' Zone (exhibitors wanting to connect with 'B2B buyers' will exhibit here)

Q. What was the number of trade visitors for the 2011 show? How many visitors are expected at EFY Expo 2012?
A. EFY Expo 2011 witnessed 10,000-plus trade visitors across a period of three days. We hope to better that figure in 2012.

Q. Are we expecting visitors/buyers from abroad?
A. We will surely be trying to get visitors from neighbouring nations like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and perhaps Pakistan. Plus, we do expect many international exhibitors.
BUT, we will be launching an international Web-based AD campaign to create a buzz in international circles. If that gets us international visitors from other nations--that would be a bonus.

Q. What are the advantages of booking an early booth?
A. Two important advantages would be:
     1) You get to choose the booth location of their choice.
     2) You enjoy the Early Bird rates.

Q. What is the unique-selling-proposition of EFY Expo 2012?
A. Here are a few:
     1) Despite the 2011 being its first edition, EFY Expo was termed as a grand success by our visitors, exhibitors, and partners. More than 70% of our exhibitors booked their booths for 2012--at the 2011 show itself!
     2) While a competing show targets manufacturers and buyers, it is not known to connect with the engineering community. Plus, no show in India has ever targeted innovators. Hence, EFY Expo is the only show in India, which is geared towards including the engineers into the eco-system.
    3) From day one, we knew that we need to make the brand Electronics For You Expo (EFY Expo) known to every member of the Indian electronics eco-system. Hence, we left no stone unturned to promote the show across various media channels. For 2012 show too, we are going to go for BIG publicity campaign. We have ear-marked a budget of Rs 1.0 crore (US$ 200,000) for advertising in internal & external media (i.e. media not owned by EFY Group).
    4) We are going to provide a lot of EXTRA benefits to our exhibitors through our media properties--the idea being that for all our major exhibitors, we would have built a major brand awareness and hype, even before the show starts.
     5) Thanks to our strength in terms of planning and creating content, we will build very strong "pull factors" in the form exciting conferences, seminars and workshops to attract targeted audiences from all across India.

Thus, we will be (a) making the biggest marketing buzz, (b) giving extra benefits to exhibitors, and (c) creating "pull-based" content to attract visitors from all across India.

Last but not the least, we speak to over a million techies every month through our publications and websites.
